Sany’s new 4,000t lattice boom crawler crane, the SCC40000A, executed its first project last month when it lifted the fourth propylene splitter tower into place at a $2.3bn petrochemicals complex in northern China.
According to the Chinese equipment heavyweight, the erection of the splitter at China’s first integrated production line for rubber and plastics was successfully accomplished by the SCC40000A as it is “the heaviest construction task” and with a lifting capacity of up to 4,000t and lifting moment of 90,000 tonne-metres, the new crane is a “robust hoisting solution developed by Sany to support” such projects.
Zhang Yang, project manager, Sany Research Centre for Equipment, said the SCC40000A carries more than 20 patents and used a superlift counterweight trolley with double crawlers. The crane has twin V-type lattice booms and moves on a four-crawler undercarriage system with eight drives. It covers an area of 3000sqm with the two booms rising to a height of 120m. Transporting the crane takes 150 trailer loads of 30t each.
“Crawler cranes of 4,000t capacity demand high technology and precision. The SCC40000A has demonstrated its eligibility for demanding working conditions with its peak performance,” said Sany.
