Ace Energy Infrastructure says its successful placing of a 3,600m pipeline of 24″ diameter across the Subansiri River in Assam, India, is among the largest pipeline installations worldwide utilising the intersect method of Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD).
Describing the manoeuvre as a significant milestone the firm explained that the installation was executed for Indradhanush Gas Grid (IGGL) (a joint venture of oil and gas companies such as Indian Oil Corporation, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation GAIL (India) Limited, Oil India, and Numaligarh Refinery.
MECON Limited, India served as the Project Management Consultant (PMC) as part of a project to extend the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga (National Natural Gas Grid) to the North Eastern states of India, a project envisioned by the Prime Minister of India and overseen by the ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Govt of India.

Indradhanush Gas Grid CEO Ajit Kumar Thakur, said the project will aid the country’s strategic vision of expanding access to cleaner energy use by setting up the natural gas infrastructure to the major demand centres in North East parts of the country.
