Mamut Daru Kft., a Hungarian rental fleet company specializing in heavy lifting solutions, has deployed its first Raimondi T187 tower crane for a significant renovation project in Budapest.
The project involves refurbishing the main building and library of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, a historic institution soon celebrating its 200th anniversary. This renovation is one of the most notable construction sites in Hungary and holds considerable importance in the European historic places landscape.
Project Details and Crane Deployment
The T187 tower crane was chosen for its impressive lifting capabilities and speed, essential for the renovation of the Academy’s main building. Csaba Balogh, General Manager of Mamut Daru, explained, “We decided to expand our rental fleet with the company’s first Raimondi crane, a new T187; we opted for this model for its excellent specifications in terms of lifting capabilities and speed.” He noted that the crane’s weight-optimized components and maximum lifting capacity of 10t were crucial in the decision.
Deployed in February 2024 with the support of a Raimondi operations team, the T187 was erected with a jib length of 55m at a freestanding height of 47.5m. It features a tip load of 3.14t and can lift at a maximum speed of 115 meters per minute in the 37kW winch version, with a drum capacity of 620m. The modularity and interchangeability of the T Series components were significant factors in the purchase decision, aligning with future plans for fleet expansion.
Challenges and Technical Considerations
Peter Kaszoni, Head of Tower Cranes, emphasized the challenges of the project, stating, “Participating in such a renowned refurbishment marks a milestone for our company. Preserving the historic in-use buildings while working within tight site confines required precise crane positioning planning, excellent site coordination, and accurate, precise work from the participants of the installation.” The T187’s advanced features, including the Lumina crane cabin and ConCore control system, facilitated this precision.
Technical Features
The T187 is equipped with Raimondi’s Lumina crane cabin and ConCore control system, enhancing operational efficiency. These features include improved error diagnostics, swifter calibration and settings, and enhanced remote assistance, allowing for effective and instant intervention.
The deployment of the Raimondi T187 for this prestigious renovation underscores Mamut Daru Kft.’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art heavy lifting solutions for significant projects, contributing to the preservation and modernization of Hungary’s historic architecture.
