CIFA, a global leader in concrete machinery, has published its first corporate Sustainability Report, marking a major step forward for the company and the broader industry. This comprehensive report makes CIFA the first company in the concrete machinery sector to openly share its environmental, social, and economic performance, underlining its commitment to sustainability.
As the construction industry experiences growth driven by increased investments in major projects and infrastructure, the sector faces significant challenges. While striving to meet the European Union’s carbon neutrality targets, the industry must also address issues such as workplace safety and the environmental impact of concrete, the second most-used material worldwide after water. CIFA’s new report highlights its efforts to tackle these challenges through technological innovation aimed at reducing environmental impact and enhancing safety standards.
CIFA’s CEO, Davide Cipolla, expressed the company’s commitment to leading the transformation of the sector. “We recognise our crucial role in the construction value chain and are dedicated to promoting sustainability values throughout the industry,” said Cipolla. “Our mission is to protect both the environment and society as a whole. We’ve voluntarily prepared this report to document our efforts, despite it not yet being required by European directives. We aim to turn regulations into opportunities for innovation, growth, and improvement.”
The report reflects CIFA’s structured approach to integrating sustainability into its operations. This includes reducing its ecological footprint through the development of energy-efficient and low-emission machinery, as well as promoting health and safety through rigorous standards and continuous training for workers. Additionally, CIFA is committed to supporting local communities by participating in social initiatives that improve quality of life in the areas where it operates.
CIFA’s sustainability strategy is built on three key pillars:
- Green & Circular Mindset: Embedding a circular approach in both the company and its supply chain to reduce environmental impact.
- People Empowerment: Focusing on the growth and development of individuals within the company.
- Ecosystem Approach: Preserving and enhancing the local environment.
The report also emphasises the importance of documenting activities with environmental and social goals using data and metrics. According to CIFA, this not only promotes transparency and trust with stakeholders but also helps monitor progress and identify areas for improvement. Additionally, the focus on sustainability fosters competitiveness and innovation within the market.
