Bobcat has secured significant contracts to supply the Dutch Armed Forces with 53 telehandlers, 63 PA12.7v portable air compressors, and 127 compactors. The deals were facilitated by Apeldoorn-based Inter-Techno, the authorised dealer for Bobcat in the Netherlands, with its subsidiary, Gencom B.V., handling the air compressor orders.
Most of the 53 Bobcat telehandlers were delivered in 2024, with the final units scheduled for early 2025. These include TL25.60 and TL35.105L models customised in army green for use by the Royal Army, Navy, and Air Force. Designed to support logistics operations, these telehandlers will play a vital role in loading and unloading goods and equipment across various military units.
“The TL25.60 is ideal for its compact dimensions and small turning circle,” said a Bobcat spokesperson. “It can lift up to 2500 kg with a maximum height of 6 m, making it perfect for tight spaces. Meanwhile, the TL35.105L offers a 10.5 m lift height and 3500 kg capacity, ideal for handling heavy containers.”
The Navy has already taken delivery of three TL30.60 models, which will support logistics aboard ships and on quays in Den Helder. Custom modifications include tow bars, blackout lighting, cameras, block heaters, first aid kits, and weapon supports. Telehandlers for the Air Mobile Brigade are equipped with extra lifting eyes for helicopter transport and reversible cooling fans to handle dusty environments. Specialized pallet forks with adjustable lengths ensure safer and more efficient operations.
Customised Air Compressors for the Navy and Army
Delivered at the end of 2024, the 63 PA12.7v air compressors come with various military-specific modifications. Designed to operate in temperatures as low as -32°C, these compressors feature a customised pressurised air system with special service valves and a dual-voltage electrical system for jump-starting from 12V or 24V power sources. Hose reels with 50 m hoses further enhance their operational range.
FlexAir technology enables the compressors to operate at variable pressures ranging from 5.5 to 12.1 bar, delivering free air flows between 5.2 and 7 m3/min. “This makes the PA12.7v the most versatile air compressor in the industry,” said a Gencom representative. “It’s suitable for applications including construction, sandblasting, pipeline pressure testing, and optical cable blowing.”
The Navy will use 13 compressors equipped with generators for diving operations. These units deliver a continuous 7-bar pressure and 3 kV of electrical power, complete with 50 m air hose reels and galvanised bases for durability in marine environments. Each compressor also features lifting eyes for air transport and adjustable drawbars to accommodate various towing vehicles.
Light Compaction Solutions
The Dutch Armed Forces have also taken delivery of 127 Bobcat light compaction machines, including:
- 54 R60 Vibratory Rammers: Ideal for compacting trenches, drainage systems, and pipelines. Their ease of transport makes them versatile for road maintenance projects.
- 37 FP20.50 Vibratory Forward Plates: Designed for compacting sand, gravel, and paving stones. Their compact size allows them to work efficiently in tight spaces such as sidewalks and trenches.
- 36 RP49.20D Reversible Vibratory Plates: Engineered for heavy-duty civil engineering and road construction tasks, these plates feature twin-shaft systems for precise directional changes and enhanced compaction force.
A Comprehensive Partnership
In addition to supplying the equipment, Inter-Techno has secured a 10-year maintenance, service, and repair contract for the telehandlers. “This ensures that the machines remain operational and efficient for years to come,” said a representative from Inter-Techno.
