Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) says it is continuing to deliver cutting-edge, safe, and productive solutions for the most challenging worksites with its latest line-up of articulated haulers. The new generation models build upon Volvo CE’s legacy of features that boost performance, safety, and sustainability.
The seven newly revamped models include updates to the proven A25, A30, A35, A40, A45, and A60 haulers, along with the introduction of an entirely new class machine, the 45-ton A50. This model range marks a significant step forward in Volvo CE’s largest-ever product roll-out, addressing the evolving needs of customers across quarrying, mining, and construction sectors.
Per Trozell, Product Manager for Sales Region Europe & International, explained: “Our haulers have always provided exceptional off-road performance, outstanding operator comfort, and maximum uptime.
“Now, with the latest updates and advanced features, the best just got even better. Our world-leading position in this segment is a testament to our unwavering commitment to quality, safety, and environmental care.”
Performance and Efficiency
The new generation haulers arrive with a range of features ensuring reliability in the toughest terrains. The Volvo drivetrain, equipped with Terrain Memory, enhances fuel efficiency while maintaining power, allowing machines to recognize and adapt to slippery road segments. Automatic drive combinations with 100% differential locks, all-terrain bogie suspension, and hydro-mechanical steering deliver superior traction, stability, and precision control.
Volvo Dynamic Drive optimizes gear selection to match operating conditions, while a downhill speed control function and industry-leading braking systems further enhance efficiency, safety, and operator comfort.
Enhanced Operator Experience
Volvo CE’s articulated haulers are intended to offer more intuitive control and convenience. Essential in-cab information is consolidated onto two screens: the interactive Volvo Co-Pilot display, which manages media, camera settings, climate control, and machine status, and the dynamic instrument cluster positioned in front of the steering wheel for essential vehicle data at a glance.
Operator comfort is eased with adjustable seats, Bluetooth connectivity, USB ports, ample storage solutions, an ergonomic gear lever, and a noise-reducing cab design. Visibility is also improved with redesigned cab panels and wider wiper coverage. Optional front and rear cameras, along with a standard entrance camera, provide enhanced situational awareness via the Volvo Co-Pilot system.
Durability and Safety at the Core
The latest range is built for longevity, featuring reinforced axles capable of handling heavier loads and higher torque, ensuring superior stability and structural strength. Safety remains a top priority, with new harness anchor points in the cab that meet WorkSafeBC and OSHA regulations, capable of withstanding up to 22kN of force.
Serviceability has been improved with simplified maintenance processes, extended service intervals, and easier component access. The industry-leading greasing interval of 250 hours eliminates the need for daily or weekly greasing, reducing downtime and boosting productivity. Additionally, Volvo articulated haulers require less fluid volume than competitors, lowering environmental impact and operational costs. To further enhance uptime, Volvo also offers flexible service contracts tailored to individual customer needs.
Smart Technology for Optimized Performance
Volvo’s intelligent solutions provide customers with the ability to further enhance their hauler performance. Haul Assist with On-Board Weighing, powered by Volvo Co-Pilot, offers real-time payload data to prevent overloading and minimize carry-back, maximizing efficiency while reducing fuel consumption and wear.
Advanced digital tools, including Connected Map, Performance Indicator, and Site Optimization, help improve traffic flow, vehicle performance, and on-site logistics. The CareTrack telematics system supports machine uptime and reduces repair costs by providing actionable insights into machine health and performance.
The new generation of Volvo articulated haulers is designed to evolve with future technological advancements. A newly developed software architecture allows for seamless integration of future upgrades and smart solutions, ensuring that Volvo’s machines remain at the forefront of innovation.
