Septentrio, part of Hexagon and a leader in high-precision GNSS and GNSS/INS solutions, has unveiled two new ultra-rugged GNSS receivers—the AsteRx RB3 and the GNSS/Inertial Navigation System (INS) integrated AsteRx RBi3. These receivers are designed specifically for machine control and industrial automation in extreme operational conditions, offering robust, centimetre-level positioning accuracy.
With an IP69K rating, the RB3 and RBi3 models set new standards for durability. Engineered to withstand extreme environmental stresses, including severe shocks, vibrations, and challenging GNSS environments, these receivers have undergone extensive validation and testing aligned with stringent ISO standards.
“RB3 and RBi3 set a new benchmark for rugged GNSS receivers, providing unmatched durability and precision even in the toughest environments,” said Silviu Taujan, product manager at Septentrio. “These receivers ensure reliable positioning and orientation where precision and durability are critical.”
The ultra-rugged design allows for external attachment to heavy machinery or vehicle chassis, offering flexible placement options, simplified installation, and enhanced operational uptime. The advanced AsteRx RBi3 incorporates FUSE+ technology, merging high-performance GNSS with industrial-grade inertial sensors to provide precise orientation (heading, pitch, and roll) alongside positioning data.
In a dual-antenna configuration, the receivers achieve sub-degree GNSS heading accuracy instantly upon startup, crucial for applications in construction, mining, and port automation.
