Arada, a renowned master developer based in the United Arab Emirates, has released a substantial contract worth US $39.5mn to construct a landscaped sports complex within its $9.53bn Sharjah megaproject, Aljada. The contract has been awarded to Dubai-based contractor Civic Builders Trading & Contracting, which has already commenced work on the site. The sports complex is expected to be completed and handed over to the public by the end of 2026.
Aljada’s main sports complex adds to the growing array of facilities available at the megaproject. These include a business park, the Madar Mall retail and entertainment complex, and a cultural and performing arts center designed by the Japanese architect Tadao Ando.
Spanning an 24m sqft, Aljada encompasses a total of 25,000 homes. It serves as a transformative destination for Sharjah, featuring numerous residential districts, extensive retail, hospitality, entertainment, sporting, educational, and healthcare components, all integrated within a comprehensive green urban master plan.
Aljada’s population has reached 20,000, with the successful handover of 7,500 homes. Currently, 2,000 homes are under construction, contributing to the growing community. Additionally, two phases of the Madar family entertainment district, the Nest student housing complex, and the SABIS International School-Aljada have been completed, along with a variety of shopping, dining, sports, and leisure facilities.

The sports complex boasts a 400,000 sqft landscaped park that features football pitch, smaller 5-a-side football pitches, basketball, padel tennis, volleyball, squash, and badminton courts. It also includes cycling and jogging tracks, as well as adventure play areas designed for children.
Beyond the sports facilities, the complex offers a range of amenities. These include a water play area, two food and beverage outlets, as well as changing rooms and public facilities. Two full floors of parking beneath the complex provide easy access for sports and fitness enthusiasts, as well as additional space for visitors to explore the rapidly expanding Aljada community.
