Skyjack has expanded its rough terrain scissor lift portfolio with the launch of the new SJ6940 RTE, an all-electric machine designed to combine zero-emission operation with the performance and terrain capability required on demanding construction and industrial jobsites.
With a working height of 14.19m and a platform capacity of 363kg, the SJ6940 RTE is the tallest electric machine in Skyjack’s compact rough terrain scissor class. The machine has also been developed with a 3.38m-long main platform, giving operators an extended working area when carrying out installation, maintenance and construction activities at height.
The combination of electric power and rough terrain capability is particularly relevant to markets such as the Middle East, where access equipment is increasingly required to operate across a mix of construction, infrastructure, industrial and facilities maintenance environments. The electric drivetrain also offers a solution for applications where reduced emissions, lower noise and indoor operation are important considerations.
“Electric rough terrain equipment is becoming increasingly relevant as contractors and rental companies look for machines that can move between demanding outdoor environments and more controlled indoor applications without compromising on performance,” said a Skyjack product specialist.
“The SJ6940 RTE has been developed around that requirement, providing the traction and gradeability expected from a rough terrain scissor while bringing the benefits of an all-electric powertrain.”

Smart electric drive system
The SJ6940 RTE uses Skyjack’s smart electric drive system, high-performance AC electric drive motors and an AC pump motor system. Together, these systems are designed to optimise torque, power and travel speed while maintaining traction across uneven terrain.
A front oscillating axle contributes to the machine’s ability to negotiate rough surfaces, while a 35% gradeability rating allows it to tackle slopes and access challenging areas of a jobsite. Auto-levelling outriggers are also fitted as standard on CE-specification machines, helping operators establish a stable working platform in uneven conditions.
Power comes from a 414Ah AGM battery, supported by Skyjack’s universal smart charging technology. The manufacturer says the system is intended to support longer-term environmental performance while providing the power required for construction and maintenance work.
Maintenance has also been considered in the machine’s design. The SJ6940 RTE uses a four-level scissor stack with a single-cylinder configuration, reducing the number of potential leak points and simplifying servicing requirements. This could be particularly relevant to rental fleets and contractors operating equipment across multiple projects, where machine availability and straightforward maintenance can have a direct impact on utilisation.
The electric machine joins the new SJ6940 RT, its conventional rough terrain counterpart, as part of Skyjack’s offering for applications spanning construction, maintenance and industrial work.

Range of accessories
Alongside the new scissor lift, Skyjack has introduced a series of accessories under its ACCESSORYZERS range, aimed at increasing machine utilisation and adding functionality for specific jobsite requirements.
One of the additions is a new Panel Carrier designed for compact and conventional DC electric scissors. Developed in response to feedback from the wall and ceiling industry, the carrier is intended for applications involving the lifting and positioning of sheet materials. It can handle workloads of up to 56.7kg and accommodate panels measuring up to 3.66m by 1.22m by 15.9mm. The carrier can be installed without tools or modifications to the machine.
Skyjack has also introduced SKYPROTECT and SKYPROTECT+, secondary guarding systems designed to improve operator awareness of potential collision hazards above and around the platform.
SKYPROTECT uses an ultrasonic sensor mounted on a control box to detect potential obstacles above the operator. When the machine enters a pre-set warning zone, an emergency-stop light alerts the operator, while reaching the designated stop zone triggers a further response. SKYPROTECT+ adds Skyjack’s secondary enable switch, providing additional functionality for lifting and reverse driving.

The latest product additions form part of Skyjack’s broader push to increase the pace of new machine introductions while maintaining its focus on straightforward operation, reliability and improved environmental performance.
For Middle Eastern equipment rental companies and contractors, the combination of rough terrain mobility and electric operation gives the SJ6940 RTE a potentially useful position in a market where access equipment is increasingly required to cover a wider range of applications, from major construction projects and infrastructure works to industrial maintenance and indoor fit-out.
