HD Construction Equipment and Manitou Group have agreed a mutual sales partnership covering compact construction equipment, in a move that will broaden the machinery ranges available from both manufacturers across international markets.
Under the agreement, HD Construction Equipment will source selected compact equipment from Manitou Group for sale under its portfolio, while Manitou will incorporate compact products developed by HD Construction Equipment into its Manitou and Gehl ranges.
The partnership was signed at Manitou Group’s headquarters in Ancenis, France, by Moon Jae-young, president and chief executive officer of HD Construction Equipment, and Sylvain Blaise, president and chief executive officer of Manitou Group.
HD Construction Equipment said the agreement forms part of its plans to strengthen its position in the global compact equipment market. The company also intends to increase compact equipment production while improving product quality and cost competitiveness, targeting €825 million (£708 million) in compact-equipment sales by 2030.
HD CEO Moon commented: “This partnership is more than just enhancing our product lines; it opens up important new growth opportunities through significant market expansion. By bringing together our strengths, we will boost the competitiveness of our compact products and enhance our global presence.”
Manitou Group manufactures construction, agricultural and industrial equipment, including telehandlers, forklifts, compact loaders and aerial work platforms. Its products are distributed in around 140 countries under the Manitou and Gehl brands.
Manitou CEO Blaise added: “This agreement fully aligns with our strategic roadmap aimed at accelerating our growth in compact equipment ranges. This alliance allows us not only to reach a new milestone in product line expansion, but also to deliver enhanced value to our dealer network and customers worldwide.”
For contractors and equipment distributors in the Middle East, the agreement could increase the range of compact machinery available through established global brands, particularly as demand grows for smaller machines suited to urban construction, infrastructure maintenance, landscaping and applications where access and transport are key considerations.
