The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) has said that its managing director and CEO, Tim Whiteman, is stepping down after serving 15 years in the position.
According to the IPAF, its former president Andy Studdert will act as interim CEO while the federation searches for a new person to fill the position.
The IPAF board recruited Whiteman as MD in 2004 for “implementing the ‘I’ in IPAF – to make the organisation truly international”, said an IPAF statement. At that time, most of the body’s 400-odd members were in the UK, from where it earned 95% of its revenue.
Today more than 45% of the IPAF’s income comes from outside the UK, even though income and membership from the country have continued to grow since 2004.The federation now has almost 1,400 members in nearly 70 countries and is in sound financial health, it said in the statement.
“It has been a privilege to work with the dedicated IPAF members and team members around the world – the passion to deliver the safe and effective use of powered access motivates so many people and IPAF shares their knowledge and experience to help keep people safe,” said Whiteman.
“However, after 15 years, I’m looking forward to a change and I thank the board for its support in making this happen.”
