What’s inside?
At the heart of every Volvo Penta BESS subsystem is an energy-dense battery pack with a favorable C-rating to support fast charging and discharging. Derived from the same battery packs for on and off-highway use from the Volvo Group, the subsystem is similarly backed by a rigorous IP class against corrosion and dust, making it a fit for tough environments in construction and mining.
The subsystem features a DC/DC converter for auxiliary power, a telematics gateway for real-time monitoring, and a thermal management system for optimal performance in various conditions. CAN and DC interfaces adapted from Volvo Group ensure reliable data transfer, while a robust Battery Management System (BMS) optimizes performance, maximizes battery life, and manages cybersecurity.
Each Volvo Penta subsystem covers the DC energy supply, while OEMs handle AC setup, container integration, and system configuration. This collaboration ensures tailored solutions that can meet customer needs.
