At Bauma 2025, Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. made a compelling showcase of its vision under the theme “Greener Development, Brighter Future,” marking a powerful statement about its ongoing commitment to digitalisation, sustainability, new energy, and global expansion. Occupying an impressive 3,000 square metres, Zoomlion’s exhibit featured more than 60 flagship products across nine categories, underscoring its significant investments in innovation, sustainability, and advanced technology.
At bauma 2025, over 20 featured products are locally manufactured in Europe that meet the market demand and customer preference in terms of performance, technology, standards and design. Zoomlion’s 72-ton and 62-ton folding jib cranes, assembled in its German factory, meet the EN12999 standard and have received CE certification. The R800-40 flat-top tower crane, produced in China and assembled in Europe, ensures quick delivery and efficient service for customers.
Highlighting Zoomlion’s presence at the exhibition was the launch of the ZT72J-V, Europe’s highest telescopic boom lift. Additionally, the company revealed 10 earthmoving machines incorporating state-of-the-art 5G remote control, AI panoramic monitoring, and energy-efficient electric-drive systems. In the tower crane segment, Zoomlion’s R800-40—the largest-tonnage Chinese model available in Europe—generated considerable interest due to its unmatched safety, operational efficiency, and ease of transport.
In concrete machinery, Zoomlion unveiled six new models, notably including a groundbreaking 70-meter pump truck featuring a topology-optimized boom and smart mixer trucks that offer remote software upgrades and intelligent diagnostic capabilities. Further demonstrating its technological prowess, the company also showcased an innovative mining solution combining autonomous vehicles, intelligent equipment, and digital systems to achieve fully automated mining operations.
Speaking at Bauma, Zhan Chunxin, Chairman and CEO of Zoomlion, engaged in strategic discussions with customers and institutional representatives, reaffirming Zoomlion’s dedication to advancing construction technology globally. “We are integrating advanced technologies not just to improve efficiency, but also to reduce operational costs and environmental impact,” Wang Yongxiang, Co-President of Zoomlion and head of overseas operations, told CMME.
Zoomlion’s commitment to greener technology was evident through its extensive range of electrified and hybrid equipment. Highlight products included the industry’s longest 101-meter concrete pump, utilizing lightweight and robust Kyron fiber instead of traditional steel. The firm also demonstrated its proprietary battery-electric and high-bridge hybrid drivetrains in cranes, mining trucks, and excavators, highlighting its emphasis on developing sustainable heavy machinery.
Wang noted that the company is building its own battery and motor systems in-house, which allows Zoomlion to maintain control over cost, quality, and innovation — especially crucial as the demand for sustainable heavy machinery grows globally.
That global expansion of Zoomlion was another major focus at bauma. Remarkably, in 2024, the company’s overseas revenue surpassed domestic sales for the first time. To maintain this growth, Zoomlion continues to expand its international manufacturing capabilities with new facilities in Germany and Hungary. Its German facility, recently expanded with a second phase, produces 72-ton and 62-ton folding jib cranes meeting European standards (EN12999) and CE certifications, ensuring swift product availability and localized support.
“Our global expansion strategy follows three phases: neighboring markets, emerging regions like Africa and Latin America, and finally Europe,” said Wang.
Zoomlion is currently investing heavily in local infrastructure and partnerships across Europe, with established branches in countries like Germany, Italy, Poland, and the UK. It recently opened new factories in Italy, Hungary, and Frankfurt, signal its long-term commitment to local manufacturing and compliance with EU standards.
To meet the demands of the competitive European aftermarket, Zoomlion has also developed a three-pronged strategy: Training centers for clients and their operators. Digitized spare parts systems for real-time access & AI-powered assistants connected directly to machines for predictive maintenance and remote support.
These initiatives, combined with local engineering teams and 5G remote control technologies, aim to minimize downtime and improve equipment safety and productivity.
To emphasise the importance of aftermarket service to its customers, Zoomlion has launched comprehensive digital and operational support systems across Europe. Training centres, digitized spare parts management, and AI-driven predictive maintenance solutions aim to minimize downtime, enhance safety, and maximize productivity for European customers.
Wang robustly defended Zoomlion against critiques of unfair competition, emphasising the Chinese company’s success stems solely from innovation, not governmental support. “Our advantage comes from our product development, not subsidies.” he insisted. “China’s domestic market is the most competitive in the world. We’ve succeeded by innovating under tough conditions.”
Looking to the future, Zoomlion envisions robotics and 5G-controlled machinery as central to construction technology. Demonstrations at Bauma included robotic arms designed for precise glass installation, 5G-enabled remote operations, and advanced wearable safety technology—all tailored to stringent European safety standards. These innovations are already capturing the the attention of the European market, and it believes it is setting benchmarks for intelligent, efficient, and environmentally conscious construction practices that match and often succeed its competitors based in other markets.
Zoomlion is clearly determined, like its sky reaching cranes, to maintain its position at the top table of manufacturers, as demonstrated by its leadership in global standardisation via its role as the secretariat of the ISO TC-1986 committee for cranes. As Wang explained, Zoomlion’s AI, control systems, and structural innovations are now integrated into every product — from super-large cranes to electric lifts — ensuring high performance, safety, and international standards compliance.
“Bauma has built a solid bridge for global industry exchange and cooperation,” said Yuan Ye, Assistant President of Zoomlion. “Zoomlion sees this exhibition as an opportunity to explore innovative and cooperative development pathways where we use more high-end, intelligent, and green products to build our beautiful world together,” said Yuan Ye, Assistant President of Zoomlion.”
