Manufacturer XCMG has expanded its operations in Saudi Arabia, with the launch of a new service centre in Dammam. The new site joins existing service centres in Riyadh, Jaddah and Tabuk. According to a report, the facility includes a new transit warehouse, component warehouse for ‘key projects’ and a training centre which will offer skills education. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded a $117.3mn project to construct direct entry/exit points for Dubai Harbour, in partnership with Shamal Holding. The project encompasses the construction of a two-lane bridge in each direction, spanning 1,500m and extending directly from Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai Harbour. This work plays a fundamental role in expanding access/exit routes for Dubai Harbour, while significantly relieving volumes of traffic from existing routes, stated a report. An oil refinery with a daily production capacity of 10,000 barrels is to be set up in with Sharjah’s Hamriya Free Zone Authority (HFZA), following a new deal between Infinite Mining & Energy (IME) and the freezone. UAE-based RAK Properties has signed up Gulf Asia Contracting Company (GACC) as the main contractor for the development of Phase Two of its flagship community, Bay Residences. Located on Hayat Island, the beachfront development will include 324 apartments, ranging from studios to three-bedroom units, across two towers. Aramco and the Public Investment Fund (PIF) have joined forces with Baosteel, the world’s largest steel conglomerate, to establish an integrated steel plate manufacturing complex in the Kingdom. It is set to provide a production capacity of up to 1.5m tonnes per year. A collective fine of US $37.32mn has been imposed on 14 cement companies in the Kingdom by Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Competition (GAC). The antitrust authority imposed a $2.66mn fine on each of the cement firms for manipulating cement prices for their own benefit, infringing Article 4 of the Competition Law. The law prohibits practices, agreements, or contracts among competing firms that lead to controlling the prices of goods and services intended for sale by increasing or decreasing them to harm the market, the authority explained.
