Volvo CE introduces certified rebuild programme for used machinery

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has launched its new Certified Rebuild Programme to ensure longer lifespans for Volvo machines.

The programme comprises three packages – Certified Hydraulics Rebuild, Certified Powertrain Rebuild and Certified Machine Rebuild – which extend the working lives of used Volvo equipment, the Swedish construction machinery giant said in a statement.

A team of Volvo technicians perform a detailed assessment to find the gaps in a Volvo machine’s performance and considers individual working environments for potential modifications before bringing the equipment back to its desired working efficiency, the statement said.

The rebuild programme, offered at certified Volvo CE dealers, optimises a customer’s fleet with solutions matched to their needs at a fraction of the cost of a new model, Volvo CE said. By reducing the total cost per hour by 8% over standard repair and overhaul procedures, and maximising uptime for any piece of equipment, the programme also enables customers to optimise their cash flow and extend their budgets.

According to the statement, Volvo dealers plan machine restorations to fit customers’ schedules and provide regular progress updates to ensure the rebuild is completed on time, with the bonus feature of having a machine modified during the rebuild process to match specific applications or new requirements that may have arisen after the machine was originally purchased.

The Certified Hydraulics Rebuild programme is aimed towards increasing the operating speed of excavators while the Certified Powertrain Rebuild is designed to improve decreased levels of power output and engine performance as well as restore economy in fuel consumption.

The Certified Machine Rebuild entails a comprehensive rebuild of older equipment assets to make them look and perform like new. Under this programme, a machine undergoes a complete rebuild, including the powertrain and hydraulics, as well as the latest engineering updates and a fresh coat of paint.
