Bobcat has introduced the R2-Series generation of 5-6 tonne mini-excavators, the E50z and E55z models, specifically tailored for the Middle East and Africa markets. These machines are designed with state-of-the-art features aimed at improving operator comfort, safety, and overall machine performance.
Tailored Features for Different Needs
The E50z and E55z models feature Bobcat’s Zero House Swing (ZHS) technology, which enhances the standard zero tail swing design. This feature ensures that the upper structure’s rotation remains entirely within the tracks’ footprint, offering added protection when operating near walls or in confined spaces. This includes the boom swing offset cylinder, front corners, handles, lights, and even the door, whether open or closed.
The E50z model is optimised for the rental industry, offering a robust and user-friendly design that meets the specific demands of this sector. The machine’s increased weight has been carefully balanced to maximise stability, allowing for the inclusion of a long arm as standard equipment. In contrast, the E55z is positioned as a premium performance model, being the largest and most powerful Bobcat excavator with the ZHS design. Both models are powered by the Kubota V2403 4-cylinder engine, delivering 36.5 kW (49 HP) at 2200 RPM.
Focused on Operator Comfort and Control
Bobcat has built the R2-Series 5-6 tonne mini-excavators around the operator, continuing the philosophy that has made the R-series 2-4 tonne machines successful. The cab offers best-in-class space with more headroom, legroom, and ample storage, ensuring a comfortable working environment. Optional features such as a heated seat with a headrest and a new 5-inch display panel further enhance operator comfort and visibility.
The R2-Series models are equipped with advanced technology, including a next-generation main control valve, dual curve joysticks, and a proportional thumb-controlled boom swing offset. These innovations ensure precise control, making the excavators feel like an extension of the operator’s hands.
Enhanced Versatility and Stability
To increase versatility, the R2-Series machines come with up to three arm-mounted hydraulic auxiliary lines, plus a case drain line, allowing for a wide range of attachment options. This flexibility enhances the machines’ role as effective tool carriers, suitable for various applications.
Superior stability is a key feature of the R2-Series. The new design achieves 360-degree stability, even when digging over the side or handling heavy loads. An improved counterweight design and dual flange rollers provide exceptional stability, giving operators the confidence to tackle any task.
Robust and Durable Design
The R2-Series machines are built to withstand the toughest conditions. Heavy-duty steel side channels and a counterweight that doubles as a bumper protect essential components. Additionally, critical parts such as lights and hoses are given extra protection to ensure durability and reliability in challenging environments.
Bobcat’s new R2-Series mini-excavators are set to meet the demands of operators across the Middle East and Africa, offering a combination of advanced features, robust design, and operator-focused enhancements.
