Caterpillar Inc. will mark its centennial at bauma Munich 2025, highlighting a century of innovation, sustainability, and customer-focused solutions.
The event, scheduled from April 7-13, will serve as a platform to showcase the company’s advancements in construction machinery, power systems, and digital technologies under the theme “The Next 100 Years.” With an exhibit covering over 9,000 square meters in Hall B6, Caterpillar aims to demonstrate its vision for the future of construction and heavy machinery.
At the heart of the exhibition is the Cat Performance Centre, a space designed to illustrate how Caterpillar integrates power, machinery, technology, and automation to improve jobsite efficiency. Visitors will be able to experience an electrified jobsite simulation, showcasing how Caterpillar’s latest equipment can contribute to reducing fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. The display will also feature battery-electric models, including the 301.9 Mini Hydraulic Excavator and the 906 Compact Wheel Loader, which are now available through select Cat dealer rental fleets.
The latest updates to the 320 and 950 GC prototypes will be on display alongside advanced charging solutions, emphasizing Caterpillar’s growing commitment to alternative energy sources.
Caterpillar’s equipment portfolio continues to evolve with new and enhanced models designed for various construction and industrial applications. Among the highlights at bauma is the D8 Dozer, which introduces a new operator station, increased comfort, and an updated suite of assist features. The 140 AWD Next Generation Motor Grader, a prototype model with a 20-tonne operating weight, integrates existing features into a next-generation platform aimed at improving performance and versatility. In the material handling sector, the MH3032 Material Handler has been developed for the scrap industry, incorporating safety and efficiency features such as 2D E-fence, Cab Avoidance, Cat Payload, and Swing Assist.
The demolition and recycling sectors will also see new additions, including the 330 UHD Ultra High Demolition Excavator, equipped with a Stability Monitoring System and Cat Grade Control with 2D. A Variable Angle Boom option will be introduced on the 340 VAB model, enhancing adaptability for demanding demolition sites. Another key unveiling will be the M323 Next Generation Wheeled Excavator, a machine tailored for railroad applications, offering various transmission options for maximum versatility.
In the heavy equipment category, Caterpillar will introduce the 775 Off-Highway Truck, which transitions to the next-generation platform with an expanded truck body volume for improved efficiency. Additionally, the 395 Front Shovel will be reintroduced, featuring a Cat C18B engine, improved durability, and extended service intervals. These developments reflect Caterpillar’s long-term focus on optimizing performance while reducing environmental impact.
Caterpillar’s exhibit will also emphasize the growing role of digital technology and connectivity in modern construction. The latest advancements in the VisionLink Equipment Management Suite will be showcased, demonstrating how equipment, operations, and safety management can be streamlined. The expanded Cat Detect Portfolio will highlight features such as People Detection, Seatbelt Monitoring, Driver Safety Systems, and Collision Mitigation. Visitors will also witness live demonstrations of Cat Command Technology, which enables remote machine operation from a safe distance. Additionally, Caterpillar will showcase its suite of Grade Technologies, including Cat Grade with 3D and Cat Payload for Excavators, reinforcing the company’s commitment to technological advancement.
The role of aftermarket support and service solutions will also be a key focus. Caterpillar will highlight its integrated Customer Value Agreements (CVAs), which offer next-day maintenance and rapid parts availability to minimize equipment downtime. Cat Certified Rebuild Programs will demonstrate how aging machines can be restored to like-new condition through factory-backed refurbishments, contributing to cost savings and sustainability efforts. Digital solutions such as Parts.cat.com and SIS2GO will be presented, offering customers enhanced access to essential machine data and management tools.
Caterpillar will also use bauma as an opportunity to showcase advancements in industrial engines and power solutions. The company’s next-generation engines are increasingly designed to be compatible with renewable fuels, including 100% hydrotreated vegetable oils (HVO). A selection of Caterpillar’s industrial engines, including the C13D, C9.3B, and C2.8, will be displayed in Hall B6. Additionally, Caterpillar will present its hydrogen engine testing exhibit, illustrating ongoing research into alternative fuel sources. The XES60 Mobile Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) will be on display, demonstrating how energy storage can support onsite efficiency and help reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
