IMKAN, the Abu Dhab-based developer, has awarded Al Dhabi Contracting a $64.25 million contract to build the first phase of the master planned development of Al Jurf, the developer’s second residential coastal development, which is set along the coast of the Sahel Al Emarat, the UAE’s Riviera.

Scheduled for completion in 2022, the first phase of the project is Al Jurf Gardens. It will see Al Dhabi Contracting build 146 residential units and two show villas over a total area of 57,851sqm, a statement from IMKAN said.

It added that the contractor was selected due to its high-quality work and timely delivery. Al Dhabi Contracting undertakes diversified turnkey construction projects, including industrial, commercial, institutional, high-rise residential and luxury villa complexes. The company has been active since 1983 and is considered a national leader in the UAE’s construction industry, the statement said.

IMKAN’s CEO Walid El Hindi, said: “Our second home destination, AlJurf, is a special project for us, as we have undertaken a guardianship role to preserve the incredible nature found at the site. The development will provide an unparalleled and authentic cultural and living experience, while paying homage to the UAE’s rich heritage.

“Our priority in choosing a construction partner for this project was to work with one that shares our ethos and beliefs. We are confident that Al Dhabi will play a vital role in the smooth delivery of AlJurf to the best standard while – most importantly – protecting AlJurf’s natural habitat and ecosystem.”

A meticulously designed 370-hectare coastal destination, AlJurf is a living sanctuary where residents have the opportunity to be a part of preserving their environment. Nestled within a nature reserve, the destination serves as an escape from the fast-paced lifestyle of the city and is built against a backdrop of stunning coastal views and immaculate beaches bordered by lush green forest.

In addition to being an area of great ecological significance, the development is also a vacation destination, which will house the wellness clinic and retreat – SHA Emirates. AlJurf will be home to SHA Wellness’s first Middle East clinic, with the destination highlighting the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle and aiming to become a leading light for health and wellness in the region.

destination has already begun construction of phase one of AlJurf Gardens, which is scheduled for completion in 18 months. Alongside unique residential communities, phase one will also include a private beach and marina, as well as a community centre all situated amid abundant and verdant open spaces. Route to the private beach will be accessible through a network of sikkas and parks linked to every plot within the phase.

Al Dhabi’s General Manager Samy Edward said: “Al Dhabi is delighted to have been awarded the contract to build the first phase of IMKAN’s AlJurf Gardens. As a company that has played a major role in the growth of the UAE with its numerous specialised developments, we will be drawing on our unrivalled expertise to bring to life this premium lifestyle concept. Al Dhabi will be using its experience in harmonising projects with their natural environments to ensure that residents of AlJurf Gardens enjoy the very best facilities constructed to the highest international standards, all set in a pristine and untainted ecosystem.”
