WOLFFKRAN has unveiled the WOLFF 8038 Clear, a groundbreaking addition to its flat top crane portfolio. Designed to meet the demands of large-scale projects such as airports, industrial facilities, and data centers, the WOLFF 8038 Clear combines exceptional lifting capacity with ease of assembly and transport.
Competing in the 560 mt class, the WOLFF 8038 Clear is the largest flat top crane in the WOLFFKRAN lineup. “Large cranes are in demand,” stated Mohamed Abouelezz, Head of Business Development and Product Management at WOLFFKRAN. “Globally, we are witnessing a trend toward construction with prefabricated parts and modules. At the same time, customers are increasingly focused on hassle-free assembly. The WOLFF 8038 Clear combines the performance of a hammerhead crane with the assembly advantages of a flat top design.”
Boasting an 80-meter jib length and a maximum lifting capacity of 20 tons, the WOLFF 8038 Clear rivals models with tower tops. Its point bearing capacity of 3.8 tons at an 80-meter jib radius is impressive even compared to the competition. An optional extension can increase the jib length to 85 meters, with a 2.1-ton lifting capacity at the tip.
Jib Evolution: Smarter and Lighter
Since the launch of the WOLFF 6523 Clear, the WOLFF design team has continued to refine its jib design. The WOLFF 8038 Clear features the patented smart jib design, enabling assembly with a simple plug connection that eliminates the need for a hammer. These smooth transitions facilitate precise load positioning.
“We’ve also revised the design of the lower chord construction, optimizing it with localized reinforcements,” explained Wouter van Loon, Project Manager at WOLFFKRAN. “This not only allows us to save around ten percent in material costs—translating to lower prices—but also reduces assembly weights by 20 percent.” Additionally, the standard option for divided assembly minimizes weight and space requirements, with the heaviest single component weighing just 15 tons.
Ergonomic and Technological Advantages
Assembly ergonomics have been a key focus for the WOLFF 8038 Clear. Bolt depots are installed at all overhead assembly points, ensuring bolts remain in position and can be slid into designated holes with a single motion, reducing strain for assembly personnel. Features such as extra platforms for divided jib assembly, foldable railings on the counter jib, and optional auxiliary cranes for tasks involving hoist and slewing gear further streamline operations.
On the technology front, the WOLFF 8038 Clear offers increased safety and operational convenience. Optional features include a second brake on the hoist winch and the WOLFF High-Speed Positioning System (HiSPS). The crane is also pre-equipped for a future under-hook camera system, enabling operators to monitor loads at any jib position and height with precision.
Global Applicability and Efficiency
The WOLFF 8038 Clear is designed for global deployment, capable of fitting into elevator shafts with a standard 2.3-meter tower connection or an optional 2.0-meter configuration. It can be transported on six trucks and is available with either a 75 kW or 110 kW hoist winch, providing lifting speeds of up to 190 m/min. For projects with lower capacity requirements, the hoist winch performance can be reduced by up to 50 percent, minimizing power consumption and energy use.
